Four Easy Homemade Guacamole Recipes
Have you seen the cute and clever Avocado Shark? Everything you would possibly need for handling avocados is incorporated into one useful tool. I can vouch that it makes great guacamole!
How to use Savannah Avo Shark?
1. Take off the protective ‘shark fin’ cover and cut through the avocado with the serrated knife edge. 2. Place the ‘jaws’ of the Avo Shark around the pip, then push the yellow prong with your thumb to take it out easily. 3. Use the serrated knife again to make perfect cuts of the flesh for when you make salads or in the case of making guacamole, skip to Step 4.4. Turn the Avo Shark around to scoop out the flesh with the spoon.
5. Mash the flesh with the slotted spoon. 6. The Avo Shark cuts mango perfectly, too!Four Guacamole Variations:
I’ve made the quantities easy to follow by using 1 avocado. I would estimate 1 large avocado for every 2 people, so add to the recipe according to your needs. To make the variations, start by making the classic guacamole recipe, then add the other ingredients to that.
1. Classic Guacamole
This is exactly how they make guacamole in Mexico, by making a paste with onion, chilli, coriander and lime first. This allows the ingredients to permeate every delicious bite. Add tomato if you want to bulk out your guacamole or if you want it extra chunky. I prefer just avocado.
Ingredients
- 1 large ripe haas avocado
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp coriander, chopped
- 1 spring onion, chopped
- ½ long green chilli, chopped
- juice of ¼- ½ lime (to taste)
- ½ ripe tomato, chopped (optional to add at end)
Instructions
Add all the ingredients except the avocado to a pestle and mortar or food processor. Pulse together or pound until a paste is formed. Place into a bowl or on a plate. Using the Avo Shark, mash the flesh of the avocado into the paste. Mash and stir until the desired smoothness is achieved. Top with some extra slices of green chilli and some springs of coriander.
2. Mango Salsa Guacamole
Chop the flesh of ½ mango and add the optional chopped tomato. Stir through and top with more coriander.3. Creamy Blue Cheese and Chive Guacamole
Crumble in 1 tbsp of blue cheese and stir through 1 tbsp full-fat Greek yogurt. Top with a few more crumbles of blue cheese and finely chopped chives.4. Fiery Guacamole
Add 1 tbsp chopped pickled jalapeños, 1 tsp smoked paprika and drizzle Siracha hot sauce over the top.Whichever version you try, take it to the next level by trying these Homemade Tortilla Chips. They cook up in minutes, so they are easy to make right before serving. The combination of the warm and crunchy, salty chips dipped into the cool guacamole is insanely good. Snack attack level 10!
If you are an avocado or guacamole lover then your kitchen will never feel complete until you have an Avo Shark. Not only is it simple and easy to use but it is also fun! Just make sure you remember to take it home with you when you visit family or friends with a salad!
