Walnut & Cheese Bread recipe
Most walnut and cheese bread recipes tend to be dry and unforgiving with the slightest misstep. Not this one. This fluffy and pull easy walnut and cheese bread will surely be a crowd pleaser at your next dinner get-together!
Ingredients
- 500g strong white flour
- 10g salt
- 8g yeast
- 350ml water
- 100g blue cheese
Method
- Place all dry ingredients in a bowl, mix and pour in ¾ of the water.
- Mix with a dough hook until dough develops and add the rest of the water gradually. Continue mixing for around 5min until dough becomes soft.
- Add 200g of chopped walnuts.
- Leave to prove for 1½ hours (dough should more than double in size).
- Once proven, split the dough into quarters and flatten out lengthways.
- Spread a generous amount of blue cheese over each piece (any strong cheese will work here) and lay on top of each other in greased tin.
- Leave to prove for a further hour. Once the dough bounces back, you know its ready. Brush over egg wash to make the bread nice and glossy.
- Place in the oven for 25min at 200°C.
