Eco Fresh, a company based in Korea has developed some fantastic products which help keep our food fresher for longer, all done in an eco-friendly way. The products use natural ceramic pellets to absorb moisture and block odour causing bacteria and harmful gases. This means food will stay crisp and fresh for much longer.
These clear food storage canisters are made from strong, BPA-free plastic. The lids come in a lovely light blue-green colour and have completely airtight seals made from silicon. This, along with the ceramic pellets hidden inside the top of the lid stores contents in the perfect conditions in order to keep them as fresh as when they first come out of the packet.
The ceramic pellets can actually be taken out from the lid – and this serves a very important purpose, to prolong their fresh keeping ability. To do this, once every 6 months to a year, take out the bag of pellets and place in a sunny room for one day. I like to leave mine out on my picnic table in the sun.
The canisters all come in a space-saving upright position – I like how they fit into my pantry, storing ingredients lengthwise. The longest container holds 2L volume and stores dried spaghetti, linguine or angel hair pasta perfectly. These containers would also be perfect for storing dried cereals or grissini as these items tend to lose their crunch one opened from their original packets.
I use my smallest 700ml container to store crackers/biscuits that have been opened, as I was finding these would always go soft before we had the time to finish them. The canister keeps them perfectly crisp for months.
Also great for any ingredient which benefits from keeping its smell fresh for longer, such as chocolate, coffee beans, ground coffee or loose leaf tea. This also works the other way around – bad odours that need to be kept at bay are absorbed by the ceramic pellets.
