Marcato Atlas 150 Design Copper Pasta Machine
Pasta is always a weekly meal in the house. Quick, easy and delicious, and I’m not talking about the kind of pasta you buy from your local supermarket. I’m talking about the homemade,
made in Italy type of pasta!
First Impressions
I’ve always wanted to make my own pasta but I never quite plucked up the courage to do so. It seemed like a lot of effort for a meal I called quick and easy. I was so wrong.
The day my first pasta machine arrived, I cleared my calendar and I was ready to spend the day in the kitchen. 20min later, I was done. My fettuccini cooked within seconds and I had the taste of Italy in my mouth.
As with most things, a good piece of equipment can go a long way and today I was given the luxury of making pasta with the
Marcato Atlas 150 pasta machine. A hand-operated machine, with 9 adjustable thickness settings, it is designed to prevent sticking and oxidation while rolling. The beautiful copper colour finish really stands out and has a nice retro feel to it.
Included in the box, is the stainless steel machine, along with a table clamp, hand crank, recipe booklet and an instruction booklet. It also has a 1.5mm tagliolini cutter as well as a 6mm fettuccine cutter.

Making pasta in a Marcato for the first time
I decided to test the machine using my favourite pasta recipe (you only need 3 ingredients!)
- 250g ‘00’ flour
- 4 eggs (1 egg 3 yolks)
- 1 tbps olive oil
Once my pasta dough was ready, I started putting it through the machine. Starting at the thickest setting, 0 ~ 4mm and going all the way to thickness 8 ~ 1mm (you can also go all the way to thickness 9 ~ 0.8mm if you wanted to). The dough was effortlessly smooth with each adjustment and it didn’t need to go through any setting more than once! (I find other machines may need go through settings multiple times to get desired even thickness).
I then took the individual sheets and put it through the fettuccine cutter where I got the perfect pasta (I also tested the tagliolini cutter – a thin fettuccine) all within 10min!!
Italian or not, this pasta machine makes it easy to prepare perfect pasta each time. There's something therapeutic about using this machine to make fresh pasta, it really is one of those kitchen pieces that you'll wonder why you never got one earlier.
There are of course a variety of pastas you could make not just those, including lasagne sheets, ravioli and even something a bit different. Cruffins!
I thought I would be brave and make a croissant muffin – a flakey, layered treat using the pasta machine!
It was amazing to see the pasta machine work with a different type of dough that wasn’t pasta. It didn’t stick while rolling and I managed to get it wafer thin.
There is a reason why we love things made in Italy. Food or not, the quality never disappoints and neither will the results from using this fantastic, authentic pasta maker from Marcato!
