Wusthof has Clocked on to Something Every Australian Needs
A knife designed solely for sausages.
I was feeling sceptical at first, but this knife has been seeing a lot of action in our house, pretty much every time we turn the barbeque on. This could be the ultimate father’s day present for that man in your life who loves to BBQ!
Now let’s get realistic. Do you really need a knife designed purely for sausages in your life?
I would say, the answer is quite an obvious no. Your sausage sizzles will still be wonderful without a dedicated sausage knife! However, once you try the Wusthof Epicure Sausage Knife, you will see why it is such a great piece of equipment.
The serrated knife edges easily cut through the tough skins on sausages, giving a perfect slice every time. The knife just feels great and performs fantastically, and makes you feel very cheffy for having a high-quality kitchen knife designed for a specific purpose.
I must also add though, this knife slices through steak and tomatoes perfectly!
The new Wusthof Epicure range of knives is made to combine the lightness and efficiency of Japanese knives with the quality and sturdiness of a German knife.
The handles for the Epicure range are made from recycled wood fibres and resin, which provides quite a different look from the brand’s iconic heavy black handles. These smoothly polished new handles help to prevent cramping and provide more comfort when using the knives for a lot of prep work.
So, go ahead and have that Sausage Sizzle for ALL the extended family!
The Perfect Sausage Sanga in 4 Steps
The Bread: In my opinion, pita bread is the perfect choice for a killer sausage sarnie. That’s because you want the highest possible juicy sausage filling to bread ratio.
The Filling: Pick any type of good quality sausages you like (hint: no red casings or cheap processed meat sausages). Slice the sausages straight down the middle. About 1 ½ - 2 sliced sausages fit perfectly within a pita pocket.
Do not leave the sausages whole unless you want them to come sliding out of the side like a bar of soap in the bath. Cutting the sausages provides a bit of texture to hold within the bread. Plus, you get all the juices that way!
The Extras: Some slowly sautéed onions and or capsicum add sweetness and a mouthwatering, savoury smell to die for.
The Sauce: Choose your favourite, whether that be mayo, mustard, BBQ sauce or ketchup - but please, make it Heinz!
