Determine a Budget for Kitchen Essentials
Hold on, you might say — $350 sounds like a lot of money! To many of us, $350 is not exactly pocket change (also, we are in fact talking about $350 or less). Yes, it could also represent half of your weekly rent, or the cost of your textbooks for a whole semester, depending on where you live and at what stage you are currently at in life. But remember that you can easily splurge almost close to that amount for a single set of knives and cookware (even for a single pan or knife) and we are not just equipping you with one pan, but with everything you need (not want) to take that bare kitchen from futile to tasteful. The Purpose of This List
We prioritize items you need to maintain habitual cooking. We identify smart buys, concentrating on commercial kitchen tools. We look for materials with quality We search for items that are pleasant to use. (Super cheap kitchenware is false economy since they are harder and not so fun to use, plus it causes discouraging results). What is Excluded in The List
We created this for a new cook and for someone who is just beginning to learn about kitchen basics or someone who is just starting out to cook a wide variety of meals. But as cooks sharpen their skills over time, eventually they form notions on which tools work best for them. So by all means, if there is a specific item you absolutely can’t live without, customize away! A few things not included in this list: Tableware: Dishes, glassware, serving platters, and serving utensils. Small Appliances: Kettle, mixers, food processors and toasters. Storage: Food Storage containers.New or First Kitchen Essentials & Tools
Pots & Pans to Cook up a Storm
We are only selecting three pans for this list and this may be debatable. Where is the cast iron skillet? Pyrolux Pyrostone 2pc Frypan Set 20 and 28cm | $69.90 A kitchen can never go without a piece (or two) frying pan. A non-stick frypan will make frying omelettes, frittatas and stir-frying such a breezy task. We are recommending the 2pc set from the Pyrostone range by Pyrolux. They are excellent pieces of cookware because of its stone line properties. What is important is that these two are highly durable. This induction cookware can be used on any stove top and if you need to use it in the oven or the grill, it can withstand the heat of up to 180°C. Since it is also PFOA free, it is abrasion resistant.
