Brabantia Air Fryer Review

Becky Gilhespie |

You'll grow to love the Brabantia air fryer oven more than your regular oven!

The Brabantia Air Fryer is more than your average air fryer. You’ll be using this more than the regular oven once you discover just how many uses it has, and the results it delivers.

I must admit that we were a little sceptical about receiving an air fryer as we had previously tried one. While we achieved fairly good cooking results, the basket was so small on this other branded air fryer for such a big piece of equipment, that we didn't feel it was right for our family needs.

The Brabantia Air Fryer Oven is around the size of a standard - large microwave oven. It looks a lot like a mini oven and has several different settings other than air frying, such as toasting, baking, baking with fan, broil (grill), and keeping food warm. Brabantia designed this air fryer to be compact but with families in mind, so while the trays are smaller than in a regular oven, there are 3 shelves so larger quantities of food can be distributed amongst them if need be.

In fact, we were able to cook a whole roast pork loin in the air fryer, using the bake function. And the results were spectacular! The crackling was hands down the best I have ever had. This little oven packs a punch! While the pork rested, I cooked a stunning cauliflower cheese and found it was done in half the time it normally takes in the normal oven.

The air fryer function cooks food to golden, crunchy perfection and nearly halves the cooking time of a normal oven. The food has the same delicious crisp texture, but is lighter. The air fryer uses circulated hot air to achieve similar results to circulated hot oil found in a conventional deep fat fryer.

Whether your goal is convenience or giving your favourite comfort foods a healthier twist, this oven can deliver both. We do make frozen fish and chips when we are in a hurry, and when there is a little more time to spare we can prepare our family favourites ourselves, such as fish cakes, chicken schnitzel, nuggets and sweet potato fries fresh from home.

With the oven function, you can really make anything that you would in a normal oven: cakes, muffins, bread, casseroles, roast vegetables, even grilled meats. Then turn on the air fryer when you are needing extra crispy results. With the air fryer, there is no need to turn food over halfway through cooking time, as the hot air circulates all around the food.

I like the easy use of the oven – simply turn it on and go. I love the use of the timer for safety as it simply shuts the oven off when the time runs out. This is helpful to ‘set it and forget it’. We’ve been known to go for bike rides while our dinner cooks and I don’t need to worry about burning the food, or my house down..

Clean-up of the fryer basket required some elbow grease until I realised the trick is to spray with a little oil before use. It does take a little getting used to with the fryer basket having holes, as crumbs can easily fall into the oven. There is a pull-out crumb tray in the bottom, however, which takes care of this.

All in all, I’m extremely happy with our Brabantia Air Fryer and it is currently taking over the use from our normal oven!
