It looks as though the light is shining brightly on the other side of the tunnel for our single-plastic use problem. It has been a real issue with a surprisingly easy solution, thank you to the eco-geniuses who actually thought of it. — Hallejujah!

Despite us trying to cut down (or at least making calculated efforts— brownie points for trying), we’re all a tad bit guilty of the occasional takeaways with paper cups.

Yes, we know—we’re meant to be running around with our reusable cups everywhere we go. Truthfully, between fiddly lids, parts left on the drying rack and cups going missing in action between bag swaps, we’re sometimes forgetful beings.

What we begin to realise is that any cup model on the market is always good for EARTH—as long as you plan to reuse it. And to solve our forgetfulness, bring cute, stylish and chic cups everywhere you go. News flash, it’s how our brain works.

Some of the cups we sample and used are made out of recycled takeaway cups while others are designed to only hold upright. Then there are those that are SMART and acts like flasks, more robust, so you can chuck them away in your backpack with no issues whatsoever.

A lot of these cups hold a standard 227 ml cup of coffee. If you’re a bucket-sized Americano regular, a 470 ml would be ideal.

Roll out the red carpet. Our final selection has lived up well to our daily commute.

Here are 7 Best Reusable Cups To Drink Coffee with:

Avanti Go Cups

Why We Love Avanti Go Cups

Say hello to the Cup of Steel. Literally. Go Cup is made out of insulated stainless steel materials that can be recycled, reused and reduced. What got us hooked is the fact that most of us love our coffees hot and Avanti Go Cup is effective at insulating your finger because it doesn’t get hot from the outside when you hold it. Coffee Snobs will absolutely love that it has internal measurement markings so that your barista will be able to pour exactly a regular 236ml (8oz) cup and large 355ml (12oz) cup of coffee.

When it comes to cleaning, the lid can be taken out in parts so you can clean it easily. Definitely a plus in our books.

Something to Consider

The bit where we feel could be something to take note of would be the spring in the lid. Over time with wash after wash, it could get rusty and if not looked after, the lid can get pretty nasty. It just means, with this cup, your cleaning ritual needs to be on point.

Frank Green

Why We Love Frank Green

Thoughtfully designed to a minimalist look. Frank Green coffee cups are inspired by the Australian cafe culture. Its pop-up lid conveniently snaps up and down, with just one hand.

Well, that’s not the only smart thing about Frank Green. There’s a smart Thermo layer that insulates your drinks to help keep them warm so it doesn’t easily get hot on the outside.

If you’ve been an avid Frank Green user, you would have known that there is a CafePay SmartCups range. Meanwhile, the Next Generation Reusable Cups enabled SmartCups, happens to be Frank Green’s latest edition and it is not too shabby.

The PayWave smart chip is located at the base of the bottom of the cup. You can also use it to pay for anything under $50. Simply wave the base to make payment. But be sure to download the Frank Green Pay app on the Apple app store or Google Play store.

Something to Consider

With the CafePay SmartCups, you’re only really able to use it as long as you walk into a cafe that participates with CafePay. If not, you’ll need to pay as per usual. Either way, we don’t think it’s a big blocker. It just means you have more payment options for your coffee.

Other things we discovered while using this cup—the small component make-up of the cup makes it a tad bit difficult to clean. But hey, don’t take our word for it because you can always use a mini-dish brush to clean out the tight corners.

Bodum

Bodum Reusable Coffee Cups Why We Love

This is a daily commuter's go-to reusable cup. If you are someone who loves making coffee or tea at home and bringing it on the train, this is the right travel mug for you.

Many reviewers find the double-wall insulation to be a great feature of this mug. Say for example your daily commute takes one hour, you would think that your coffee would have already turn lukewarm, but not if it's in this mug. With this mug, you are still able to enjoy your coffee warm on the train or in the car even when you have reached the office.

The lid, on the other hand, is a screw-on lid which makes it very hard for your drink to spill. On the lid, is the leak-proof drinking spout that presses down firmly.

Something to consider

It can be a bit of a lottery filling, especially if you are filling up coffee from a coffee machine. This travel mug is a regular-sized (300ml) cup, however, some machines may overfill this mug, especially when you make a frothy coffee like a cappuccino.

Perhaps consider getting the Bodum Travel Mug Double Wall 350ml instead. This travel mug comes in soft pastel colours like pastel green, yellow, pink, blue, cream and stainless steel black. Other than that they are great to show off at the office and to give a little pick-me-up of your crowded desk.

Contigo

Contigo Luxe Reusable bottle

Why We Love

Contigo Luxe had us at hello. The Contigo Luxe bottle is designed with a sleek aesthetic fashion sense. Before you underestimate this bottle for its looks, you should know that its advance performance includes three quintessential feature; their one-button Autoseal technology making it spill and leakproof, their lock-feature that help prevents accidental pressing and is dishwasher safe, where its underside can easily be opened and take the parts out for easier cleaning.

This 354ml Contigo Luxe travel bottle is created with double-wall insulation and vacuum seal to keep your drinks hot for up to 3 hours or cold up to 10. Some reviewers find this travel mug fits snugly into their cupholders in the car too and it fits under most single-serve brewers.

Something to consider

Given that the lid pops open and that you can take out the parts, you may need to be cautious when you wash them in the dishwasher because you might easily lose them. Then again it's how you organise the parts and the dishwasher so you know where everything is.

Oasis

Oasis Reusable Coffee Cup

Why We Love Oasis

Meet Oasis! The coffee cup vessel battling the good fight against the spiralling global war on waste. These babies made a foray into the enviro-friendly bandwagon with the BYO coffee cup trend in Australia. It’s simple and minimalistic look doesn't just appeal to millennials but to the generations before them.

Much like the Avanti Go Cups, our coffee regulars at Everten found that this travel cup is just as solid and sturdy. It can hold drinks in place really well. The lid is great to drink out of and the shape of the cup makes it easy to hold and place in most standard cupholders. The black crackle 350ml travel cup is made with double-wall stainless steel with vacuum insulation.

Something to consider

Despite it being as sturdy and as solid as the Avanti Go Cup, its lid design is different than Avanti's. Oasis's lid has a fairly simple design whereas the Avanti Go Cup has a pop-up lid mechanism constructed to ensure drinks don't spill or leak.

In that sense, the oasis lid is so much easier to clean thoroughly but may not be spill or leakproof like the Avanti Go Cup. However, the parts from the Avanti Go Cup lid, to some can be a bit of a hassle and that the fiddly bits that can be taken apart for washing may go missing if you don't keep an eye on them while washing.

Eva Solo To Go Cup

Eva Solo Coffee Cup

Why We Love Eva Solo

For those who love Danish design then they should be no stranger to the beautiful and luxurious household items and kitchenware by Eva Solo. The high quality brushed stainless steel construction and BPA free spout just feels luxurious to hold and drink from. We just love the tight sealing lid which closely nicely shut and feels secure enough to place in your handbag or satchel in the morning rush hour.

The Eva Solo To Go Cup is great for both morning coffees or tea where it can confidently keep drinks hot or cold for up to 6 hours. Its minimalist European design looks so stylish whether its on the office desk or in the cup holder of a luxurious German sports car. We love using it for the morning coffee and can easily use it to accompany the gym storing cold water later in the day.

Something to Consider

The spout takes a little getting used to at first if you're used to the tiny openings of conventional takeaway coffee cups, however the only negative we can find with these cups is the price! At almost two to three times the cost of a regular reusable coffee cup, it is very pricey, so worthwhile if you plan to use it every day and simply are just one of those people who enjoy the finer things life!
