Maxwell & Williams
This Australian brand is globally recognised and is well known for their hugely popular White Basics range. Today Maxwell & Williams also collaborate with local Australian artists bringing their artwork to the table with stunning designs on mugs, plates, cups, water bottles and more.
The rich history of Maxwell & Williams dates back to 1963. Harry and Ann Grundmann emigrated to Australia in 1961 to forge a new life. They started their wholesale company HAG Imports, and imported European homewares to the Australian market.
Their son Max Grundmann joined the company as a junior salesman in 1974. It was very much a family affair with Harry the head salesman and Ann handwriting invoices.
In 1977 Harry and Ann retired, Bill Ryan joined the company and brought with him a huge amount of retail experience.Together, Max and Bill took over running of the business. With these two at the helm, the business expanded and they started introducing quality international brands to the Australian Market. They soon realised in order to really grow the business, they needed to create their own brand and so Maxwell & Williams was born.
In 1995 Max and Bill saw a gap in the market for quality everyday use dinnerware, Australians wanted quality dinnerware that can be used on a daily basis. And so the iconic White Basics was introduced to the Australian market with much fanfare and still retains itself as a top selling tableware range today.
Today the Maxwell & Williams White Basics range has grown to over 250 individual pieces, and range everything to build your collection at home, from dinner plates to pasta bowls, serving platters to mugs. The White Basics collection has become a staple for families not only in Australia but globally aswell as both a timeless styled quality tableware option that is also affordable.
Maxwell & Williams have a vast range of homewares available today from tableware, to glassware, serving ware, outdoor dining, accessories and more.
