10 Best Reusable Bottles to Buy in 2019

Yasmin |

It is never too early or (too late) to make drinking water more and staying hydrated as your new year’s resolution. So to help you make that goal possible this year, invest in a quality water bottle that doesn't just look good but is also practical to your daily lifestyle (and the environment).

If you happen to be skimming through a list of your daily essentials but coming up short with reusable bottles now would be the right time to have a look at 10 of our best reusable bottles we have picked out for you.

When picking the bottles for this final list, we haggle and decide based on quality, appearance and price. Including whether they are environmentally sustainable.

Stylish, Sleek & Steely

|1. S’Well: The “Original” Chic Insulated Bottle

Sarah Kauss Founder and CEO of S’Well believes that if there was a bottle that is crave-worthy combining fashion and function, people won’t have a reason to use disposable bottles. This bold ambition has been getting celebs — Jennifer Garner hooked and Tom Hanks ordering for his production company. S’Well has the power to make you want to hydrate responsibly and hydrate chicly.

If you have been browsing through our S’Well category, you may have noticed a range of fantastic collection the likes of Liberty, Elements, Textile, Resort and Stone. Just recently, they came up with a sports collection for anyone who appreciates being active in style.

On top of its already well known triple-walled Therma-S’well technology and its high-energy and gym-chic prints, the sports collection comes with a clickable cap that is designed to allow you to sip with one hand. Meaning you won’t splash water all over your face while running on the treadmill. Most importantly, it is eco-friendly - BPA Free and reusable!

2.  Avanti Fluid Vacuum Bottle: Affordable and Modern

Avanti water bottles are  relatively similar to S’Well. Their prints and designs are comparative to each other and between the two, Avanti is, and always will be the affordable one between the two. Generally, vacuumed stainless steel water bottles have been getting a cult following, though it’s not hard to guess why (besides S’Well) this 1.5L is built to last long and withstand rugged conditions.

Works great for gym sessions, office and even camping. Its double-wall insulation keeps your drink cold for 24 hours and hot for 12. Unlike the Avanti bottles we usually talk about, this cool glistening Camo Blue print bottle includes an easy handle to carry. Like S’Well, it is BPA Free and is condensation free. So if you carry this bottle in your backpack, no need to worry about other stuff getting wet.

If this print doesn’t tickle your fancy, we have a wide range of designs that you might like. Be warned, you might get googly-eyed. But hey, at least now you know where to get one.

Eco-Friendly Glass Options!

|3. Soma: The Urban Office-Gym Essential

Soma is generally known for its polished water pitchers. Which, at the moment is available on our site and we think it is great because the filter material is made with sustainable materials such as coconut shell carbon and sugarcane plant-based material.

The water bottles, on the other hand, are as sleek as their pitcher collection. As you can tell from the picture, they are skinnier and more lightweight than other bottles we have seen and tried. There is no doubt the design is intentional. We consider this bottle a good-sized water bottle allowing you to fill up 2.3L of water. Plus, it fits well and doesn’t take up too much space in your bag. So easy to lug around.

Besides the bamboo-made cap, its absolutely dishwasher-safe, BPA Free and its glass is shatter-free resistant. And to finish off the look, Soma came up with a rather modest yet modern selection of coloured silicone sleeve. Head to our Soma page to choose one.

|4. Contigo Purity: Plastic-Free Everyday

This contigo water bottle is a reliable glass water bottle you would appreciate. It has a sturdy built and is fairly comfortable when holding. Compared to Soma’s glass water bottle, it is the much thicker option, with a capacity to fill up to 591ml.

In terms of material, both are made of glass, which in our opinion has the same benefits. Both Soma and Contigo come with a protective silicone sleeve. The real difference is in Contigo’s protective silicone sleeve. It is great for someone who prefers to know how much water is left in the bottle. Contigo is a great option for that thanks to its thoughtful design - an opening in the middle so you can see through the bottle. Unlike Soma, the protective sleeve covers the bottle from the bottom up. You can’t really tell on the fly like Contigo.

Another component we find useful is its carry loop. Contigo’s other Purity version comes with a tethered lid. Some reviewers find it less than ideal because the lid tends to hit the bottle when opened, causing a loud metal sound. This version, however, has the lid and the carry loop separately. Either way, both are great options and ultimately boils down to your preferences.

Slim. Slender. Skinnies

|5. Dopper: The Triple Threat Bottle

Hmmm, is it a cup? A water bottle? Ding ding ding, it is both! So what do we mean by Tripple Threat? This dope bottle come in three parts. Its top part of the bottle (usually in white) functions as a cup, while its cap function as the cup rest, the bottom portion (usually coloured base) as you can see, can fill up to 450ml. Very decent size and has a rather slim structure so you can enjoy your drinks on the go. Ideal for travelling, office or during a workout session. The bottle material is eco-friendly (BPA Free) and is made from toxin-free polypropylene. Highly durable and absolutely recyclable.

Great news for those who love the Dopper style but want a slightly larger capacity fill (490ml). Dopper Solid Steel is on our shelves. Another option you may want to consider. It is made from durable and quality stainless steel making it a tough bottle for the outdoors, and a sleek bottle for the indoors.

|6. Avanti Skinny Bottle: Conspicuous Luxe-ification

Umm...since when did reusable water bottles become so high-end? — (ahem excuse us), that would be hydration vessel in industry-speak. It seems that the thirst for bespoke water bottles has surpassed designer clothes and footwear these days. And Avanti has joined the flock! — and if we may add, at a very very decent price too.

These Avanti Water Bottles are slender, has a shiny rose gold cap, a matte black finish on the body and is made from stainless steel. On top of that aesthetics, it has double wall insulation making it excellent at keeping drink temperatures at its optimal be it hot or cold for long periods of time. It is like the perfect supermodel.

Its slim figure is ideal for work, travel, a yoga session and school. As obvious as it looks, it saves a lot of space in your backpack. But bear in mind that it has a capacity to fill up to 230ml. For some people that can be very little. But if you don’t mind the capacity and loves that it looks great and yet still functional this may be your match.

Right now we have a complete range available in different colours such as Sparkle Rose Gold, Sparkle Stainless Steel, Sparkle Black, Sparkle Champagne and Gunmetal.

|7. MemoBottle Slim: The Flat bottle That Fits your Bag

This brilliant water bottle was designed to overcome two frustrations that all of us commonly face; Single-use water bottles, and the inability to fit cylindrical bottles in our bag something most common bottles can never do.

MemoBottle co-founders Jesse Leeworthy and Jonathan Byrt thought of a way to overcome that to create water bottles that are slim and one that mimics the size of an A5 or A6 paper. An idea that is optimised for easy carry and transport. The good news is this bottle can fit together with your documents in your laptop case and handbag. Which means your laptop bags will stay flat. Say goodbye to big, lofty bulky loads.

There are two sizes available the A6 sized bottle that can fill up to 375ml, which is absolutely BPA free, leak-proof and heat safe up to 50 degrees. And if you look at it, the size is similar to an iPad size. Another size option is the MemoBottle Slim, which fills up to 450ml. The shape is significantly different than the MemoBottle A6. It’s longer in length but fits well on your palms when holding.

Innovative Multitaskers

|8. Contigo Byron Snapseal: The Innovative All-Rounder

When we were browsing our collection of travel mugs, this one came to mind because it eliminates common shortcomings of stainless steel mugs; such as insulation, ergonomics and leak issues.

If you are someone who is used to carry a 500ml coffee that costs a fortune and only end up staying hot for an hour, you might want to consider buying Contigo Byron Snapseal because you could be paying less than double of that expensive coffee and still have your coffee hot for hours. This travel mug keeps your coffee piping hot! — thanks to its Thermalock vacuum insulation technology.

Another convenient feature we appreciate is that you can, with just one hand, pop the top to drink no need to remove or unscrew.  Its lid is also spill proof, making it a tough mug that doesn’t easily spill drinks. Tilt it, shake it, as long as the lid is sealed tight and secure, you won’t have to worry about your drinks spilling. Its ideal when you are constantly on the go, camping, school and work.

|9. Corkcicle Canteen: Wine Chiller On the Go

Ben Hewitt and partners Stephen Bruner and Eric Miller designed Corkcicle to ensure a perfectly chilled wine every time. A way to keep white wines cool and reducing red wine temperature for ideal sipping. Despite its initial intention, Corkcicle is also suitable for other cold and hot drinks.

Corkcicle has a strong gift-buying demographic as their target market, mainly 35 to 50-year-olds — technically the age population that tends to enjoy wine more. But we think it can be enjoyed by everyone.

With its triple wall insulation, it has the ability to keep cold drinks for over 25 hours and hot drinks for up to 12 hours. It definitely tops most of the insulated bottles we have listed so far. If the Avanti Skinny Bottle is a supermodel, Corkcicle is a super supermodel. Good shape with a decent 470ml capacity, attractive colours and most of all functional and effective. See colours in Rose Quartz, Aurora, White and Copper.

|10. Aqua Zinger: The Bottle that Spice up Your Water

This is THE bottle if you are someone who can’t seem to get enough daily water intake — mainly because water doesn’t have any flavours and is too plain for your liking. Are you planning to take the next step in your water-flavouring journey?

At the bottom of the bottle, there is a compartment that includes a mini grinder to help you infuse your desired flavour. Even if you don’t plan to infuse the flavours right away and want to keep it for a while to produce a stronger, more intense flavour, the compartment can help preserve the fruits during the day. Great if you are rushing out to work, travelling, and school.

Cut fresh limes and lemons and place them in the compartment. Seal it and twist to get the flavours out. This way the nutrients and aromas will be released while ensuring that the flavours can slush safely in place. The good news is, this bottle includes a metal mesh at the bottom cup allowing flavours to infuse without allowing excess seeds and rinds to infiltrate your drink. Available in green, pink and grey.
