Irresistible, super soft and non-greasy baked donuts for the whole family to enjoy
The humble old-fashioned donut is America's most classic and loved treat since the 1800s. Originally, these donuts were deep-fried and made to have a crunchier texture with cracks on its surface. The crackly exterior makes it easier to hold cinnamon sugar or any sort of glaze. Old-fashioned donuts have a rich, dense and cakey texture in comparison to regular donuts. Soft, tender and sweet, it's no wonder these donuts have quickly become a favourite worldwide.
This recipe will take the hassle out of rolling or frying the dough. This means you get delicious, non-greasy old-fashioned donuts without compromising on its taste. This recipe does not contain yeast but requires baking powder as a leaving agent to allow the donuts to be baked quicker. For thick glazes like chocolate and vanilla glaze, it's best to use a baking tray to avoid the glaze dripping onto your kitchen countertop.
Using the USA Pan Donut Pan, these donuts bake evenly with just the right craggy exterior. USA Pan's Americoat PLUS coating also made it easy for the donuts to be released hassle-free. Americoat is a natural silicone coating that is non-toxic, making it PTFE-, PFOA-, and BPA-free. The non-stick properties of the coating also allows you to reduce your oil usage by up to 50%, making it a healthier alternative while contributing to less product usage.
Enjoy this delightfully sweet treat in many ways; dunk it in coffee, drizzle it with caramel or eat it on its own for breakfast or as an afternoon snack.
