Being an avid home baker, I have taken an interest in finding simple, delicious and easy-to-make recipes. While searching online, I noticed a growing interest in recipes using cake and pancake mixes sold at the supermarket. Trying out these recipes was simply one of the best hacks a home baker can achieve. These affordable baking hacks are great especially when you do not have the extra time to fancy up your baked goods. All that's required is a few ingredients and a baking sheet or pan So, to all the busy mums out there, here is a list of the 5 most loved recipes shared online:

­1: The Apple Cake

Ingredients:
  • 1 x Vanilla Cake Mix 340g
  • 1 x Egg Beaten
  • 100ml Milk
  • 1 x Apple Slices in Juice (not syrup) 410g
Directions:
  1. Simply mix the ingredients gently (do not over mix).
  2. Bake according to cake mix instructions.

2: The Versatile Cookies

Ingredients:
  • 1 x 340g Cake Mix (can be any flavour aka Vanilla or Chocolate)
  • ¼ cup oil (a low flavour oil, for example, vegetable oil like Canola)
  • 2 Eggs
  • Add whatever you like, most recommendations included chocolate chips and sprinkles
Directions:
  1. Combine and mix ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  2. Place tablespoon sizes balls on a baking tray and bake for 7-10 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.

3: The Berry Slice

Ingredients:
  • 1 x 300g Pancake Mix
  • 2 Cups (625ml) Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • Frozen Berries
Directions:
  1. Make the Pancake Mix according to instructions.
  2. Pour the mixture into a pre-lined slice tin or baking dish.
  3. Top with frozen berries.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.

4: Two Ingredient Cookies

Ingredients:
  • 1 x Cake Mix 340g (can be any flavour aka Vanilla or Chocolate)
  • 1 x Tin Condensed Milk 375ml
Directions:
  1. Mix all ingredients to combine.
  2. Place tablespoon sizes balls on a baking tray and bake for 7-10 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.

5: Pineapple Cake

Ingredients:
  • 1 x Vanilla Cake Mix 340g
  • 1 x Tin of Pineapples 425g
  • Coconut for sprinkling
Directions:
  1. Max the two ingredients including the juice before placing in a pre-greased cake tin or loaf tin.
  2. Sprinkle with coconut on top for toasting.
  3. Bake as per the instructions on the cake mix.
