Fiskars Non-stick Frypan Product Test

David Kahn |

Eggs just slide off the pan..

So, I’ve never been a fan of non-stick pans. That’s probably not a good way to preface a post about a non-stick pan, is it? But trust me, you’ll understand. Until now I haven’t really bought non-stick pans. I did when I first started cooking, but then the coating came off, or the non-stick became sticky after a while. That was until now. I’ve been brought back into the fold by the new Fiskars All Steel range, using their 28cm All Steel Frying Pan because it’s literally a whole new world of non-stick. The coating on this pan doesn’t feel like a thinly painted coating of water colour paint like some others. Instead, it feels like a solid layer combined into the stainless steel core. The whole pan in fact is incredibly solid. The best thing of all though…(and you’ll only understand this if you have an induction stovetop…) there’s no singing or noise! That’s right! It’s completely silent on the stovetop. But don’t worry, it is perfect for use on all hob types. It’s also incredibly efficient which is important when you’re cooking on induction.

Made in Finland

I first used a Fiskars fry pan many years ago in London at cooking school and was dutifully impressed at the time, but now I’m even more so. The quality of the Finnish design and manufacture quality is evident as soon as you hold it in your hands. It’s solid, but not heavy, with a smooth almost sparkling cooking surface to it. Eggs are known for sticking to pans when you're cooking, and they basically slide straight off this one, cooked to perfection. It has become my new go-to for breakfast time! Unbelievably it’s actually 20% more non-stick than other non-stick pan types due to its new ceramic Ceratec coating. It’s perfectly suited for browning and flambéing, and has a large cooking surface that means it easily cooks schnitzels for a family of four. Normally about now I’d start talking about cleaning. Yes, it is dishwasher safe. But, it is best to hand wash it. And to be honest, to prolong the performance of the fry pan, I will definitely be hand washing this one. Of course, it is also best to use non-stick appropriate utensils and also to make sure you avoid any temperature shock by immersing the hot pan into cold water. For utensils we generally recommend anything that has silicone to prevent damage to the non-stick surface The quality of performance is evident throughout the entire Fiskars All Steel cookware range. Every pan is designed with a 3 layer base and non-stick Ceratec coating to provide even heat retention when cooking. The Fiskars range will inspire you and the family to cook new recipes and bring back the enjoyment of cooking for the family. Shop the Fiskars All Steel range here.

The Perfect Omelette

I make an omelette at least once a week and it’s actually something that my fussy son really enjoys. The hardest part about making an omelette is getting it out of the pan, so I was very excited to try out the Fiskars All steel 28cm pan with my signature omelette. Omelette is a favourite of Master 4, and it’s super easy to make when you use a non-stick pan!

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • ½ cup cheese
  • ½ cup shredded ham (or use spinach!)
  • Olive oil

Method

Brush the base of your pan lightly with olive oil. Turn the heat to medium and wait for the pan to heat up. Whisk the eggs together until they are really frothy- it takes a few minutes. Pour the egg mixture into the heated pan. Wait until bubbles appear. Add the fillings. Cook 2-3 minutes more, then fold one side over. Cook for 2 minutes, then flip, cooking for 3 minutes on the other side. Serve hot! Made for Everten by @kidgredients
