How to season Solidteknics pans in the oven:
Step 1 - Oil the Pan
Pour a small amount of flaxseed oil, soybean oil or rice bran oil on a warm pan or dampen a cloth with the oil
Step 2 - Spread an even coat both on the interior and exterior
Wipe the entire pan so that it spreads and leaves a nice thin coating. It shouldn't be heavily coated, the pan should look like its lightly polished.
If there's too much oil it will leave streaks and spots. Try to make it as thin of a coating as possible. If there's too much on the pan, simply wipe it off with another cloth.
Step 3 - Curing in the Oven
Place the pans face down in the oven at 250°C for approximately 1.5 hours. Once the time has completed, turn the oven off and let the pan sit for another 30 minutes.
Step 4 - Repeat!
Repeat steps 1 to 3 at least 3-6 times so that you build a solid foundation of non-stick and corrosion resistant seasoning. Each time you will notice the pan getting darker and darker - it's a positive sign of progress.
Step 5 - Should you get spotting or running marks
Simply use some steel wool and lightly rub around those marks to then make a more even layer for the next cycle.
Step 6 - Cook!
You will find your pan gets better and better with use and consistent seasoning. You won't need to repeat this process every time you use the pan, but you can choose to wipe it down occasionally with another thin layer of oil on occasion before or after cooking.
Cleaning
Solidteknics recommends that you do not use soap or dishwasher when cleaning. Simply run it under running hot water and use a utensil or scrubbing tool to scrape off any food scraps. Using soap will affect your seasoning and will require you to re-season your pans more often.
How to season your Solidteknics pans on the stove:
Should you not wish to perform the longer method above, you can also use your stove to season the cooking service of your pan.
Step 1: Heat the stove to HIGH
Turn on your stove and gradually heat up the pan until its hot (around 160-180°C).
Step 2: Add some oil to the pan
Similar to the method above, add a small amount of flaxseed oil, soybean oil or rice bran oil to the pan. Be careful to add only a very small amount as the pan will be hot to avoid getting burnt from splattering oil from the hot pan.
Step 3: Spread a nice even layer
Using some tongs and folded paper towel, simply spread the oil evenly throughout the pan's cooking surface. Ensure you have your extractor fans on or clear ventilation to let the pan heat up the oil and some smoking to occur. You will notice your pan starting to darken - this is a sign that the process is working!
Step 4: Allow it to sit
Turn off the stove and allow the pan to sit to cool and solidify the oil to create a nice well-seasoned coating.
Step 5: Repeat to build a strong, even nonstick layer
Ensure you get a nice even darkened pan by repeating the steps 1 through to 4. For larger pans, you may need to move them slightly around on the stove with each cycle to ensure even darkening of the pan. Should you have any lumps or spots, simply use some steel wool and repeat the process. Be sure that you only use very small amounts of oil for a very thin coat each time.
