We all know how important it is to keep hydrated, and whether you are a gym junkie or an avid runner, student, office worker or perhaps you just need to increase your daily water intake, we have a water bottle that will suit all occasions. Purchasing a reusable water bottle means you can ditch single use plastic water bottles, helping the environment as well as saving money.
Eco friendly reusable water bottles
Over 5 million people in Australia consume bottled water weekly. In the US alone, plastic water bottle consumption equates to 50 billion plastic bottles annually. By switching to a reusable water bottle you would be replacing the equivalent, and sparing the planet, of 156 single use plastic bottles a year. You will also save, on average, around $1200 a year by switching to a reusable water bottle.
We have a huge range of reusable water bottles available and are here to help you navigate through the world of reusable water bottles to help you find the right one for you.
Choosing a reusable water bottle
There are so many different brands and styles of water bottles on the market today that choosing one can become overwhelming. Brands ranging from Frank Green, Contigo, Camelbak, Oasis, Avanti to name a few, and in insulated, glass, ceramic, BPA Free. It's no wonder why you may feel it's all too complicated.
First of all, what is your reason for buying a new water bottle? Think about what the primary reason for the new water bottle is. Take into consideration whether you are looking at one for sports and active lifestyle, for the office, school student etc.
Once you have identified your reason, start to think about what's important to you. Think of the material, do you want a glass bottle, BPA free plastic bottle, insulated stainless steel? You will also want to think about the capacity of the water bottle, how much water it can hold and will that be suitable for your needs. Let's start to break this down further.
Insulated Water Bottles
There are several benefits of using an insulated water bottle over a normal every day water bottle. Insulated water bottles keep your drinks cold (or hot) for hours at a time, making them great for long hikes, beach days at the beach, or just in general when you want you drink to stay cool or warm for longer. Typically made from stainless steel, these water bottles are also more durable and longer lasting than a regular plastic water bottle.
There are two main types of insulated water bottles: those with a vacuum seal and those with a double-wall construction.
Vacuum-sealed water bottles are the most common type of insulated water bottle. They work by using a vacuum to remove all the air from the bottle, creating an insulating barrier between the hot or cold liquids inside and the outside environment.
Double-wall construction water bottles have two layers of walls with a space in between them that is filled with insulation. This design helps to keep your drinks hotter or cooler for longer periods of time than vacuum-sealed insulated water bottles.
Water Bottle lid types
Water Bottles come in a variety of styles, materials and often have different lids depending on the required use. This includes; sport water bottles, an insulated water bottle, water bottles with a wide mouth, spill free lids & leak proof lids.
Sports Bottles: there are a few different styles of sports bottles to suit your different needs.
If you are a cyclist, you may want to look at a water bottle with a straw so you don't need to lift your head too much to have a drink.
Wide Mouth: if you like adding ice cubes, lemon, cucumber or other fruits and hydrators to your water bottle then you should consider a water bottle with a wider mouth.
Spill free lid: Great for office workers to have on their desk. Avoid potential disasters if you accidentally knock your bottle over with a spill free lid.
Leak proof lids: Perfect if you love to chuck your bottle in your gym bag, or to prevent soggy lunches or school work in your school bag
What are the best water bottles made from?
Stainless steel water bottles: Durable and contain no nasty chemicals, stainless steel bottles are an insulated water bottle meaning the bottle will keep your water cooler for longer. Stainless steel water bottles are also reusable and recyclable making them an environmentally friendly choice.
Glass water bottles: a favourite amongst those who like to add flavourings in their water bottle as there’s no worry of the glass retaining any flavours when you next use your water bottle. Our glass water bottles are all BPA FREE and contain no harmful chemicals. You can easily store these in the fridge overnight to keep your water nice and cool for the next day. Some glass water bottles will have a silicone sleeve over them, this can help prevent the bottle from breaking if dropped on the floor
BPA Free Plastic: All plastic water bottles we stock are BPA FREE. These BPA FREE water bottles are much lighter than the glass and stainless steel water bottles and are perfect for active people, easy to throw in your gym bag or your school bag and easier to carry when working out etc. Being reusable will also save you money in the long run as well as helping to rid the planet of single use plastic.
Ceramic water bottles: A great alternative to plastic bottles as they are eco friendly. You will find most Ceramic water bottles are also constructed from stainless steel as well, making them much more durable than if they were entirely ceramic.
Silicone water bottles: These water bottles tend to be collapsible due to the nature of the silicone material, making these compact to fit in your bag when not in use, so you are never without a reusable water bottle
Stainless Steel v Glass water bottles:
Both of these materials are a great reusable water bottle option. We’ve listed a few things to think about to help you decide which way you want to go.
Pros for stainless steel water bottles: The coldest water bottle you can buy as they’re insulated water bottles keeping your water colder for longer. Very durable and will last years. Stainless steel is also recyclable at the end of their use and comes in a range of styles, patterns, colour to suit your lifestyle.
Cons for stainless steel water bottles: can dent and scratch over time if repeatedly dropped etc and does take longer to recycle than other water bottle options.
Pros for glass water bottles: 100% recyclable and sustainable, and the glass water bottle does not retain any flavours so perfect if you do like to mix it up and add fruit or flavouring to your water. Glass water bottles are dishwasher safe and durable.
Cons for glass water bottles: They are more fragile than stainless steel water bottles and as such, generally have a shorter lifespan. Glass water bottles are also not insulated so will not keep your water cold all day long like a stainless steel water bottle will.
Which water bottle size is right for me?
Choosing the right size water bottle is also an important decision, too small and you are constantly needing to refill and too large can be daunting.
