The Shun Classic Utility Knife features a narrower and straighter blade in comparison to a chefs knife and paring knifemaking it suitable for a wide range of precise cutting tasks. The slightly curved belly allows moderate rocking cuts, making it possible to peel an onion and slice it quickly. The blade is made from Shuns proprietary high-performance VG-MAX steel providing excellent edge retention and is clad with Damascus stainless steel, making the knives sharp, durable, and corrosion-resistant. The Damascus cladding also reveals the layered steels flowing pattern, adding to the knives beauty. The knives feature D-shaped ebony PakkaWood handles, which provide a comfortable and secure grip while working in the kitchen.

I have used global knives for years and thought that they were great. Now this knife comes along and I have to reset my reference points; it is fantastic. A great hand feel and a beautiful blade. I highly recommend it.

This is probably one
This is probably one of the greatest birthday presents I have ever received, and have since given it to 4 other people as presents (in exchange for 5 cents for those who are superstitious about giving knives). I've got knives of different sorts and brands - Wusthof, Kasumi, Icel, Victorinox, ceramic knives - but Shun is my all-time favourite. This utility knife is beautiful to use: it's light, and has a comfortable handle. Unlike German knives, the Shun handle is smooth, asymmetrical, and small - perfect for my small hands. Others in my family who have larger hands also like the feel of it too. Definitely the best utility knife I have owned!
