Spiralising has been a food phenomenon for some time now and even so we still get asked daily which spiraliser is the right one. There are two main types of spiralisers to consider: the turning slicer and the handheld spiraliser. So if you too are looking to turn your veggies into perfect spirals read on to work out which is the right one for you.

Handheld spiralisers:

  • These models are based on the design of a pencil sharpener
  • They usually include a finger guard, although sometimes not so you need to take care!
  • They work best with pencil-shaped veggies naturally
  • These models usually only have one to two size blades included
  • The more reasonably priced models

Our favourite handheld spiralisers:

|1. The Gefu Spirelli Spiral Slicer 2.0 made with Japanese stainless steel blades and includes a finger guard

|2. The Joseph Joseph 3 in 1 Spiro Spiraliser has three different blades including a grater and includes a finger guard

|3. The Icon Chef Veggie Twister Spiral Cutter one of the first on the market

Turning slicers:

  • Great if you are looking to slice a wide variety of fruits and vegetables
  • They keep your fingers safely away from blades
  • Work best with larger fruits and vegetables
  • Often include a variety of blades for different shapes
  • The more efficient and more expensive models

Our favourite turning slicers:

|1. The Benriner Japanese Horizontal Turning Slicer with Interchange Blades are made in Japan and used by top chefs in Australia

|2. The Inspiralized Spiral Slicer is easy to use and includes four different blades

|3. The Progressive Professional Spiraliser has a silicone grip for added stability and all blades are integrated

There is still one more option out there for the serious spiralisers and Kitchenaid Mixer owners. Our number one selling Kitchenaid attachment is now the Spiralizer Attachment. No elbow grease required to use this spiraliser which can do so much more including peeling.
