Your Guide to going zero waste at home
Stop eating credit cards!
Did You Know? We ingest approximately 5 grams of plastic every week! (Study by University of Newcastle, Australia) New research released recently reveals that people in Australia eats 2000 micro pieces of plastic or about 5 grams of plastic each week. That’s about 21 grams each month, 250 grams yearly and 52 individual credit cards in total. The research found that most of the unintentional consumption comes from drinking water from the tap or bottled water. Shockingly, fish isn’t the only source of our plastic diet —salt and beer are two other significant culprits as well. On that note, here are 10 ways to go zero waste at home:|1. Swap single-use coffee cups with reusable cups
Australia has an obsession - and that is coffee. Shockingly, it has to lead to an extra 7000 tonnes of non-biodegradable waste in recent years. 1 in 400 disposable cups isn't actually recyclable due to the plastic lining around the mouth of the cup as well as the base. In fact, this lining will outlive you, technically taking about 30 years to fragment and about 100 years to fully breakdown. Thankfully (for all of us), our best seller - Avanti Go Cup is perfect to help curb this problem. It's not only leakproof but it's also insulated and has barista measurements inside so you can determine how much coffee you need to fill up.|2. Goodbye plastic water bottles.
